In Wedel, on the outskirts of Hamburg, six "partner houses" are being built to densify a former workers‘ housing estate. The new buildings take up the original character of the settlement from the 1950s with a few selected materials. With a total of 70 residential units, they allow for a greater variety of forms of living: from flats with two to four rooms, through cluster apartments for senior citizens to row-row apartments for families. Both existing and partner buildings are arranged together on a slightly raised plot, which provides space for private and shared garden areas.
